Rear Admiral KM Ramakrishnan takes charge as Flag Officer of Karnataka Naval Area

Karwar: Rear Admiral KM Ramakrishnan has assumed office as the new Flag Officer Commanding, Karnataka Naval Area on April 10.

In his new role, he will be responsible for the operations and administration of all units and establishments in Karnataka, including the Karwar Naval Base.
Rear Admiral KM Ramakrishnan, was commissioned into the Indian Navy's Executive Branch on January 1, 1991.

His educational qualifications include an M Phil (Defence & Management), M Phil (Defence Studies), M.Sc in Defence Studies and Masters in HRM.
Ramakrishnan has also held several important staff appointments, such as Commodore NCO, Commodore Work Up, Command Plans Officer at HQ Western Naval Command, Fleet Navigating Officer of Eastern Fleet, and Directing Staff at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. Prior to taking up his current role, he served as Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Communication, Space, Network Centric Operations) at IHQ MOD (N).

He is also a recipient of the prestigious Vishisht Seva Medal and has commanded several vessels, including Missile Vessel INS Nirbhik, Offshore Patrol Vessel Subhadra, and the Frigate INS Betwa. Additionally, he has served as the Navigating Officer of several IN Ships, including Sharda, Kuthar, Rana, Krishna, and Talwar.

He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla, Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and Army War College, Mhow.
