Anantapur: Power failure on Saturday night has halted efforts to stop the water flow from the damaged second gate of the Gundlakamma project in Prakasam district. As a result, water is going waste into the sea.

The second gate of the reservoir got damaged on Friday night when water flooded into the reservoir.

Since then, authorities are trying to fix a stop lock gate to prevent wastage of water. In the attempt, a hook broke due to pressure of water. Authorities are trying to retrieve the submerged hook and weld it to the stop lock.

However, the work came to a halt following a power failure. Authorities said they will resume work on Sunday morning and arrest the water flow.
