Attack on CPM, BJP Palakkad offices

A case has been registered against unidentified persons for attempts to create riots, said the police.

Palakkad: The CPM and BJP offices here were attacked by unidentified miscreants on Thursday night and Friday early morning respectively. The attackers threw beer bottles filled with kerosene at the district committee office of the CPM  near Victoria College here  around 11.30 p.m. on Thursday. The bombs  hit the sunshade of the office and  fell on the parked car of former Palakkad MP N.N. Krishnandas. The window pane of the car was broken. A case has been registered against unidentified persons for  attempts to create riots, said the police.

A few hours later,  around 2.30 a.m. on Friday, nearly 10 miscreants threw three glass bottles at the BJP district office at Harikkara street here and damaged the window panes. The asbestose sheets in front of the office were broken in  the attack. A staff member at the BJP office identified the miscreants and police investigation was on. CPM leader V.S. Achuthanandan, who was in  Palakkad for a function, visited the DC office on Friday.  The CPM  alleged that the BJP workers were behind the attack.
