HYDERABAD: Taking a serious note of the incident in which a 28-year-old orphan woman was stripped naked in Balajinagar road on August 6, the Telangana State Commission for Women (TSCW) took suo moto cognizance of the incident, while Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has sought a report from the chief secretary and the DGP on the action taken against the culprits and asked them to submit a detailed report immediately.

“With profound distress over the unfortunate incident of forcefully disrobing a young woman on a street within the Jawahar Nagar PS limits in the outskirts of Hyderabad, the Governor has instructed the chief secretary and the DGP to take action against the culprits and submit a detailed report immediately,” read a communiqué issued by the Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, TSCW chairperson Valkiti Sunitha Lakshmareddy said “Our team, comprising Kommu Umadevi and investigation officer (IO) Sharada, met the victim, enquired about the incident and shifted her to Sakhi, where she is undergoing treatment. We will see that the accused Pedda Maraiah is severely punished for committing the heinous crime.”
