Kerala: NRI nurse's website guide against frauds

KOZHIKODE: Nurses aspiring to go abroad can now rely on a website that will help them keep off  traps like visa frauds and other issues being faced during migration. The website is being developed by a  nurse, Shincy George, 29, from Vilangad, Nadapuram, who works in Al Ardha Hospital, Jizan, Saudi Arabia.  She has already published four books that are being used as reference books in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka universities.

Five other works are nearing completion, said Shincy, daughter of George Manimala and Molly, who is currently on holidays here. She also has signed an agreement with the publication departments of Kerala University and MG University for preparing question banks for the nursing students.   The idea of  preparing a reference book of abbreviations started while  Shincy was a nursing student.

“I started collecting the  details and compiled them after I found that there were not enough materials for the nursing students, though there were many for  MBBS and BDS students.  But  the publishers were not ready to publish my books as I had not completed my studies,” said   Shincy. She published her first book when she was 23. When she went to Saudi Arabia  a year ago, she realised the traps awaiting  the nurses from poor families.

So she decided to prepare a website with specific windows for procedures in each foreign country for aspiring nurses. Titled ‘Nursing Manthra,’  her website will be brought online by her husband Manu Kuriachan, who is in Dubai now, and supported by her brother Shinto George, who is a graphic designer. The website will have all the information needed for nurses  planning to go abroad and the details of tests by DHA (Dubai), HAAD (Abu Dhabi) and the  MoH (Ministry of Health).  It will also have lecture notes needed for the nursing students, added  Shincy.
