SCR penalises 35 hawkers for law violations, nets Rs 1.75 lakh

Vijayawada: The South Central Railway has apprehended 35 unauthorised hawkers and imposed a total fine of ₹1.75 lakh on them in a special drive at the Vijayawada Railway Station in the last 10 days.

Officials from the commercial, operating, environment and housekeeping department jointly undertook the drive against unauthorised hawkers, vendors and those charging more than the normal price on food products or  displaying unlisted articles for sale. Some 35 unauthorised hawkers selling tea were fined with a total of ₹1.75 lakh, the officials claimed.
