33,226 ducks culled in Kottayam on Tuesday

Kottayam: The animal husbandry department has culled 33,226 ducks in Aymanam, Vechoor, Thalayazham, Arpookara, Payippad and Kumarakom panchayats in Kottayam district in the second phase to fight bird flu. A total of 40 teams having five members each of the department participated in the culling operations, which will continue for some more days in the same areas, district animal husbandry officer Dr J. Hariharan told DC. Meanwhile, 735 ducks died of avian influenza on Tuesday.
