Visakhapatnam: The 69th Wildlife Week celebrations, which started on October 2 at the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) in Visakhapatnam, concluded on Sunday with a grand half marathon event.

Visakha Trail Running Association collaborated with IGZP in organising the marathon in the morning in four categories – 21 km, 10 km, 5 km and 3 km. About 600 participants, from children to adults, engaged in marathon, showcasing their dedication to wildlife and environmental protection.

IGZP curator Nandani Salaria gave prizes to winners of the half marathon as well as other events held during the 69th Wildlife Week, like drawing, essay writing, fancy dress and photography contests.

Salaria highlighted the importance of reducing single-use plastics and planting saplings.

Children under 12 were allowed free admission into the zoo from October 2 to October 8.
