Southern Air Command celebrates Air Force Day

The messages from the President, Vice-President, Prime Minister, Defence Minister and Chief of Air Staff were read out on the occasion.

THIRUVANANTHPAURAM: The 84th anniversary of Indian Air Force was celebrated  at the Southern Air Command at Akkulam and all the IAF establishments under SAC with  various  programmes on Saturday. Air Marshal S. Neelakantan, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, SAC,  administered an oath to the  IAF personnel of Southern Air Command during a  function. The messages from the President, Vice-President, Prime Minister, Defence Minister and Chief of Air Staff were read out on the occasion.

The Air Marshal in his address pointed out the  challenges faced by the IAF and underscored the need for modernisation and new acquisitions. He also complimented the personnel for their diligence and professionalism in the context of the prevailing situation in the country and stressed the need to  protect  the expensive assets, both equipment and human.

Various programmes, including drawing and painting competitions, quiz programme,  Barakhna at airmen mess, tea with  civilian and DSC staff and a get-together of air veterans were held. The celebrations concluded with a reception at the SAC officers' mess.
