THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran has come under attack from a cross section of leaders in the party for taking unilateral decisions. Sources said the state secretary was facing criticism from within the party over the manner in which he had recommended the appointments of nominees for the Planning Board and Public Service Commission. A section of party leaders alleged that the secretary was not holding discussions within the party on such important issues.

There is resentment in the party over the delay in announcing heads of various boards and corporations. Though the state executive had earlier decided to finalise its nominees by October 4, the process is yet to be completed. There are nearly 18 boards and corporations for which the party has to short list people. A section of leaders allege that those close to K.E. Ismail were being kept out of reckoning for various posts.

The issue of dual posts was raised by some leaders in the last meeting indirectly referring to Kanam Rajendran holding the post of AITUC state present as well. The secretary had clarified that a decision on dual post issue would  taken soon. Those close to the party secretary refute the charge that he was taking decisions unilaterally. They said postings and appointments were being discussed in the appropriate fora.
