RAICHUR: Minister for Infrastructure, Large and Medium Industries, MB Patil has said that the government is contemplating a comprehensive development plan for the Industrial Estates and subsequently handing it over to the industrial unions for further maintenance.

During the meeting with the elected representatives of Raichur district on Tuesday, Patil acknowledged the existing deficiencies in the infrastructural facilities of the Industrial Estates. To rectify these concerns, he highlighted the government's commitment to implementing measures that would effectively address the prevailing issues.

"After executing a thorough and inclusive development plan for the Industrial Estates, our objective is to transfer their ownership to industrial unions, which will then assume responsibility for their continued upkeep. The revenue generated from the industrial estates' tax collection will be allocated with a 70-30 split: 70 percent for the unions and 30 percent for the respective local bodies," Minister Patil elaborated.

The Minister directed the Commissioner of Textiles to prepare a proposal to be submitted to the Centre for setting up of Textile Park in Raichur district.
"In Raichur district, there are over 120 ginning units, indicating the necessity for establishing a textile park. This district ranks as the second-largest cotton market in Asia. Notably, the central government has granted authorization for a textile park in Yadgir district. In light of this, a formal proposal will be presented to the authorities at the Centre, seeking permission for the establishment of an additional textile park in Raichur," he explained.
Underlining Raichur's potential as a logistics hub, Patil asserted, "I am well aware of Raichur's capacity in this arena, and I am committed to engaging with the relevant authorities to realize this potential."
