Thiruvananthapuram: The Women’s Commission has decided to register a case against AMMA president and MP Innocent for making insulting remarks against women. Innocent had said at a news conference the other day that only ‘bad actresses’ sleep with male counterparts in the industry to get roles. The commission will  ask its director A.U. Kuriakose to probe into the statement and take  case against the actor on the basis of the probe. Commission chairman M.C. Josephine said that she was aware of what  Innocent had said at the press conference. The commission will take a case against the actor on its own and examine the video clippings of the press conference.

Innocent made the remarks on women while speaking at the press conference in his residence to apologise for the behaviour of his co-actors at the press meet after the general body meeting of AMMA. The statement had come under attack on the social media. The Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) comprising women artists and technicians in the film field also reacted against the statement. Innocent had said  that the Malayalam film field was now free of sexual harassments and that there was no ‘casting coush’ in the industry now.
