HYDERABAD: The progress and working of Kavach, an indigenously made automatic train protection system that prevents collisions, was on Sunday inspected by Railway Board Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti.

Experts from South Central Railways (SCR) and Arun Kumar Jain, its general manager, who was one of the key members in developing this technology, accompanied Lahoti, who travelled in a locomotive that was equipped with this system from Lingampalli and Chitgidda.

He observed how the Kavach helps applies brakes automatically on detecting another train on the same track, without the need for human intervention. SCR has commissioned the system across 1,465 km.
