18 IT firms to set up units in Mahabubnagar

The minister expressed happiness over the IT industry spreading its wings to tier-II cities in the state.

The state's first cyber intelligence lab at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is ready, but the department of computer applications is struggling for funds.

Hyderabad: As many as 18 IT companies have come forward to begin their operations in Mahabubnagar. They have given their consent letters to IT minister K.T.Rama Rao here on Thursday. Mahabubnagar MLA V. Srinivas Goud handed over consent letters to Mr Rao. The minister expressed happiness over the IT industry spreading its wings to tier-II cities in the state.

“This shows that the Telangana government’s efforts to expand IT to tier-II cities have started yielding results. The IT industry which was confined to Hyderabad in undivided AP is now making its presence felt in tier-II cities such as Nizamabad Warangal and Karimanagar. The Mahabubnagar is the latest addition to this list,” Mr Rao noted. The IT minister also said that the government has recently sanctioned IT towers in Nizamabad, Warangal and Karimnagar.
