Kadapa: 11,016 bogus ration cards unearthed

Households that did not fall under the BPL category managed to get the cards through political influence or by bribing officers to corner benefits meant for the poor.

Kadapa: The government has identified bogus white ration cards which were being maintained by government and retired employees in the district and deleted them.

The civil supplies authorities identified these cards through comprehensive financial management system (CFMS).

All the employees are drawing salaries and the retired employees are getting pensions from the government account. They linked their Aadhar cards to CFMS along with their ration cards. So far the officers are identified 11,016 bogus white ration card holders and stopped allotment of ration to them.

The government is supplying rice, sugar and other commodities in subsidised prices through ration depots. Along with subsidy ration, other welfares such as pensions, Arogyasree, fees reimbursement and other benefits were given to white ration card holders.

So, most of the employees are getting white ration cards in their native villages and enjoying the government benefits. The new government is changing the system of ration depots by deputing village volunteers for the distribution of commodities.
