Chennai: It appears to be a strange case of a Hindi-speaking MP’s love for Tamil savant Tiruvalluvar and tryst with Tamil Nadu and acknowledgment of his devoted service by a young couple from Tamil Nadu.

In a rare tribute to the BJP’s Tarun Vijay for his selfless efforts in popularising Tiruvalluvar, a couple from the temple town of Kumbakonam named its boy after this Rajya Sabha MP from Uttarakhand.

“We feel happy to name our boy after you as a mark of love and devotion and also a mark of growing popularity and respects to you as ‘Tiruvalluvar Toother’ (ambassador of Tiruvalluvar),” the couple R. Sathish and Satheesha expressed in their letter to Mr. Tarun Vijay. The couple’s first child was born recently.

According to sources in the BJP here, the MP had thanked the young couple and said he was “humbled and honoured” by their gesture. He wished them all well and conveyed his blessings to the newly born child to rise higher in his services to his parents and Tamil ‘Annai.’
