Nellore: Accusing the police of high-handed behavior towards them, a woman and her son protested before the police station in Markapuram town of Prakasam district on Thursday.

The woman, Pinnika Lakshmi Rajyam, and her son, Pinnika Durga Prasad, sat before the police station raising slogans against the police for nearly two hours.

Speaking to media, Lakshmi Rajyam said some persons had murdered her husband Pinnika Chenna Kesavulu on March 17, 2016 and the same people were trying to eliminate her son now. She said she came to urge the police to provide security, but the police had behaved in an arrogant manner.

SI Anjaneyulu said the charges were baseless. He said he had asked the woman to give the complaint in writing when she said two people, who killed her husband in the past, had been following her children.

“The woman started scolding a constable when he came inside while she was talking to me. She became furious and sat before the police station when I told her that it was wrong to admonish cops within the police station,” the SI said.

Meanwhile another person belonging to Markapuram, Singarui Sathyanarayana also joined the woman and her son in criticising the police. Circle inspector Sridhar Reddy intervened and pacified the protestors after assuring them that their grievance would be redressed.
