TN woman hacks hubby for suspecting her

TIRUNELVELI: A woman hacked her husband, who allegedly followed and kept a tab on her secretly suspecting her fidelity, here on Saturday. She was later arrested.

A daily wager, Nellaiappan (42) of Thirumalaikolunthapuram village near Tirunelveli often picked up quarrel with his wife, Santhanamariammal (38) suspecting that she had illicit affairs.

According to Palayamkottai taluk police, Nellaiappan, said to be a drunkard, followed Santhanamariammal to a pawnbroker's shop, where she went to pay the monthly interest for the loan taken.  

Irritated with Nellaiappan following her, Santhanamariammal quarreled with him on the road and went to cut firewood, the earnings from which she supports the family.

However, Nellaiappan secretly followed her and hid himself behind a bush. Finding that her husband watched her from behind a bush, Santhanammal in a fit of rage attacked Nellaiappan with the sickle she had in hand.  Nellaia-ppan sustained multiple cut injuries and swooned.

People nearby rushed him to the Tirunelveli medical college hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. Palayamkottai taluk police seized the sickle from Santhanamariammal and arrested her for attempting to murder her husband.
