Hyderabad: In an attempt to protect land belonging to the police department from land grabbers, the department has come up with TS Police Land Information System (TSPLIS), a web-based GIS application. It was launched by DGP M. Mahendar Reddy here on Monday.

The application developed by TS Remote Sensing Applications Centre (TRAC), the nodal agency for providing geospatial technology application services, helps in a speedy creation of genuine digital records of the lands owned by the department.

The initiative has resulted in creation of digital land records, reconciliation of property boundaries with  adjacent revenue lands, delineation of encroachments to help prevent further encroachments and help redress disputes and legal issues.
