Kerala High Court okays K M Mani election

He had won the Assembly elections defeating the nearest rival Mani C. Kappen by 4703 votes.

Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Monday dismissed the petitions challenging the election of Kerala Congress chairman K.M. Mani from Pala constituency.  The petitioners, LDF candidate Mani C. Kappan and  a voter  K. C. Chandy  had  alleged that the nomination of Mr Mani was improperly accepted by the returning officer, as the nomination paper was incomplete. Mr Mani denied the same and the court accepted his contentions.  He had won the  Assembly elections defeating the nearest rival Mani C. Kappen  by 4703 votes.  

After the elections, as many 12 results were challenged. The cases are pending against  UDF MLAs Anil Akkara (Vadakkanchery), P.B. Abdul Razak (Manjeswaram), K.C. Joseph (Irikkur), T.A. Ahammed Kabeer (Mankada), P.K. Kunjalikutty (Vengara), V.S. Sivakumar (Thiruvananthapuram) and K. Muraleedharan (Vattiyurkavu).   The results of   LDF MLAs R. Ramachandran (Karunagappally), Veena George (Aranmula) and Independent Karat Abdul Razak (Koduvally) have also been challenged.
