Kollam policeman hits motorist with wireless set

The policeman was suspended from duty as a disciplinary action related to the incident.

Santhosh Felix was stopped by two policemen, and was allegedly hit on the head above his left ear.

KOLLAM: A policeman allegedly hit a motorcycle rider with a wireless handset during a routine vehicle check  at Ashramam link road here on Friday evening. Santhosh Felix (34) of ‘Hercules’, Anjukallummoodu is the injured. He was admitted to the Kollam district hospital with injuries on his head.

The policeman Mash Das of Janayugam Nagar in Kadappakkada who attacked Santhosh was suspended from duty as a disciplinary action related to the incident. Santhosh Felix’s was heading towards a hospital in Ashramam, along with his two-year-old child, where his mother was admitted. Two policemen pounced in front of Santhosh asking to stop the vehicle.

As Santhosh stopped the vehicle, Mash Das allegedly hit on Santhosh’s head above his left ear using the wireless set. Santhosh fainted upon receiving the smash. Tension prevailed in Ashram as the local residents later staged a sit-in protest blocking the road in protest against the police action. ACP George Koshi who reached the spot assured action against the policeman who hit Santhosh.
