Hyderabad among safest cities in the country

HYDERABAD: Mangaluru, the coastal city of Karnataka, adjudged the safest city in India, while Hyderabad ranked 10th, according to a crowd-sourced global database. Numbeo said Mangaluru, the safest city in India, is ranked 47th safest in the world.

Gujarat’s top three cities — Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Surat — fares better getting the second, third and fourth ranks respectively. These cities ranked 95th, 99th and 115th globally.

Hyderabad, which ranked 10th in India, is 192th safest city in the world. It fares better than Melbourne, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Auckland, New York, Dublin, Jakarta and Tehran among others.

Other IT hubs like Gurugram, Bengaluru and Noida fared worse than Hyderabad with respective rankings of 14, 15 and 16 in India and 290, 295 and 305.

Numbeo is also a crowd-sourced global database of quality of life data such as housing indicators, perceived crime rates, healthcare quality, transport quality, and other statistics.

Navi Mumbai ranked fifth, followed by Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, Pune, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Indore.
