Government employees to continue second phase protest till April 29

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Joint Action Committee – Amaravati (APJAC – Amaravati) chairman Bopparaju Venkateswarlu has announced that the government employees would start their second phase of protests and agitations till April 29. He urged the government to resolve the issues submitted to the government in a 50-page memorandum.

The APJAC – Amaravati state executive committee meeting was held at the AP Revenue Services Employees Bhavan in Vijayawada on Wednesday.

Leaders of the employees, teachers, labourers, as also retired and contract & outsourcing employees’ association leaders extended their support for the ongoing movement. The meeting passed a resolution for the continuation of the next stage of the movement.

Venkateswarlu said that the government should credit the salaries on the first day of every month and implement the 11th PRC-proposed pay scales, and pay the pending DA arrears.

He urged the government to constitute the 12th PRC, abolish the CPS, regularise the contract employees, enhance the outsourcing employee’s wages and implement cashless treatment through EHS. The employees also want a 16 per cent HRA for employees at all district headquarters.

Venkateswarlu said the employees would hold black badge protests in all circles in the state on April 8 and would submit memorandums at the Spandana grievances cell by wearing masks on April 10. They would observe a one-day 'mobile phones down' agitation on April 11. Employees and retired employees would hold dharnas at all 26 district collectorates on April 12, and  a dharna on the issues of CPS employees and teachers on April 18.

On April 20, e APJAC–Amaravati leaders would stage protests in front of banks with a demand that government employees should not be pressured to pay EMI as they are not getting their salaries on the first day of every month.

A dharna by contract and outsourcing employees would be held on April 25, and a dharna on gram/ward sachivalayam employees’ issues at all district collectorates on April 29.
