Kozhikode: The doctors and students of the Government Medical College Hospital here are up in arms against the  transfer of the doctors and  resident doctors without considering the staff strength. The government ordered their  transfer to the Government Medical College, Manjeri, for getting  sanction  for the college from the Medical Council of India.

Over 15 doctors and senior and junior resident doctors, including four  from the general medicine department,  were  transferred in a month.

General medicine assistant professor Dr Soopy Kayanaduth said, "we are facing a crisis  now. Every week,  one of the doctors is transferred to Manjeri hospital  for MCI inspection or for some other purpose.   On Monday,  the doctors will protest in front of the principal's office against denying us our basic rights.  Hundreds of patients coming to the MCH- Kozhikode are in trouble due to the transfers," he  pointed out.

N. Arjun,  MCH student, said that the patients as well as the students of the college were  affected by the  transfers.  "Within a  month, many of our important staff members were transferred without making any new appointments. We are also joining hands with our faculty to fight  this injustice," he said.
