Vijayawada: Guntur Municipal Corporation commissioner Keerthi Chekuri suspended two officials of the civic body on Wednesday for dereliction of duty, due to which the corporation ended up losing revenue.

Guntur industrialist Tulasi Krishna Chaitanya had applied for change of name in the property tax of his property. But GMC’s revenue officer Ravi Kumar and revenue inspector Udaya Ranga Kumar kept the file of the industrialist pending.

Because of this, GMC lost revenue as the officials could have imposed vacant land tax on the property.

An inquiry conducted by deputy commissioner revealed that the two officials disobeyed standing orders and had caused loss of revenue to the GMC.

Following the inquiry, Keerthi Chekuri suspended the revenue officer and the inspector.
