Kochi: The risk posed by speeding buses entering and leaving the Vytilla Mobility Hub to pedestrians is one of the major complaints received by the hub society. A solution is now in the offing with the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) all set to construct a pedestrian walkway-cum-cycle track from the Vytilla Junction to the hub. “The walkway will be built from the current exit point to the Vytilla Junction and another leading to the hub as part of the city improvement project. The new paths will only permit pedestrians and cyclists as a means to reduce congestion and encourage a healthier lifestyle,” a senior official said.

It will be in addition to the proposed eight-meter high walkway from the Vytilla Mobility Hub Metro station connecting other modes of traffic in the integrated transit terminal such as city bus service and boat service bays. The KMRL would also construct a modern walkway along the General Hospital road, connecting the Boat jetty to the Maharaja's College metro station.
