CM Pinarayi Vijayan rues move against vaccination

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has appealed to the people not to get caught in the false propaganda against vaccination programmes. He said the attempt to propagate beliefs without any scientific basis would lead to major catastrophe in future. The propaganda against children's health is unfortunate, and those behind such misinformation were actually indulging in a major antisocial activity and causing social harm.

He said the propaganda against the vaccination was being carried out without any scientific basis or any scientific findings. “We should be able to think differently and acknowledge the fresh developments and advancements in the field of science,” he added. He said the tendency to form an opinion without acquiring knowledge about the subject was not right. The Measles Rubella vaccines have been developed after a series of scientific investigations and research.

The MR vaccinations are scientifically tested for efficacy and safety.  The effectiveness and safety of measles-rubella vaccination have been proven scientifically from time to time. The chief minister said the vaccination provided lifelong protection against measles and rubella with single shot given at an early age. The vaccine is also successful in effectively bringing down death rate among children and also the disabilities related to rubella.
