Thiruvananthapuram: High temperature alert to continue

According to Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA), sunstroke and sunburn alert will continue in the state on Thursday.

Thiruvananthapuram: High temperature alert will continue in the state on Thursday, with the Indian -Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting a 3 to 4 degree rise in normal temperature in Alappuzha. The IMD has predicted a 2 to 3 degree rise above average normal temperatures in Thiruvananthapuram, Palakkad, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargode on Thursday.

According to Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA), sunstroke and sunburn alert will continue in the state on Thursday. On Wednesday, a total of 71 heat-related cases which include 65 heat rash cases, 5 sunburn cases and 1 sunstroke case were reported in the state. With this, the total number of heat-related cases has gone up to 954 since February 25, 2019.

As per the advisory from the authorities, the public should avoid going out in the Sun from 11 am to 3 pm to protect them from sunburn and sunstroke.

Meanwhile, IMD has predicted isolated rainfall in many parts of the state till Friday. As per the rainfall forecast Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Wayanad, Kozhikode, and Kannur will receive light isolated showers till Friday.
