Hyderabad: Justice E.V. Venugopal on Tuesday allowed pregnant women who are aspiring to be police constables to give their physical efficiency tests after qualifying in the written exams, which are scheduled from March 12 to April 23.

As per the current practice, candidates first give their physical tests and then move on to the written exams. However, several pregnant women approached the court for relief as they were unable to give their physical tests during their pregnancy.

Taking note of the concerns of pregnant women, Justice Venugopal directed the Recruitment Board to allow pregnant women to take written exams after perusing the medical certificates.

However, applicants must submit undertakings that they will participate in the physical examination test, within one month of qualifying for the written exams.
