Bhubaneshwar: In a surprising incident, a man from nowhere climbed onto the boat of some fishermen in the sea, 71 miles off the Chilika coast in Odisha.

The man who was brought to the shore on Friday said he belonged to Simdega in Jharkhand. He identified himself as Kusha Tirkey Oraon.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night when a boat from Paradip anchored in the sea and the fishermen were busy fishing. All of a sudden, the boat staff spotted a man climbing onto the boat. They were all taken aback because there was no other boat in the vicinity, nor any island.

The boat staff and the fishermen suspect him to have been washed into the sea and a helpless person.

“We suspect that the man was swept into the sea accidentally. We provided them food immediately after he was rescued. He underwent medical examination after we reached the shore and now he is doing well,” said fisherman Prahalad Dash.

“I work as a daily-wage earner. I was carried away by high tidal waves as I was strolling on the shore. Now, I’m feeling better after being rescued by the fishermen,” said Kusha.
