Major Manoj Kumar's body brought to Thiruvananthapuram

The body would be cremated at Shanthi Kavadam, Thycaud, at 10.30 a.m with full military honours.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The mortal remains of Major K. Manoj Kumar,  who died in the fire mishap at the central ammunition depot at Pulgaon in Maharashtra, were  received with full military honours by Power Minister Kadakampally Surendran at Thiruvananthapuram domestic Airport  on Thursday. 

Manoj Kumar’s  wife, Beena, son Vedhanth, and other family members, including mother Bharathi, sister, and brothers were  present at the airport. Brigadier M.A.J. Fernandez, Station Commander Pangode Military Station, Col Issac Thadathil, Station Staff Officer, Sparjan Kumar, City Police Commissioner, ADM and other officers from Pangode Military Station also attended the function.  

Tributes were paid to the brave soldier after which the body was taken to the Pangode Military Hospital.  The mortal remains  will be kept in his residence at Vettamukku at  Thirumala from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Friday to enable the public to pay homage to the departed.  

Though the Major’s family belonged to Haripad in Alappuzha district, his parents and family have been living at Vettamukku  for  the last several years.  The body  would be cremated at Shanthi Kavadam, Thycaud, at 10.30 a.m with full military honours.
