Warangal: A father and son were electrocuted in the Boddigonda village of Mahbubabad district on Thursday. Police said that Bukya Akiya, 57, and son Nagesh, 23, died when they touched the roof of their cattle shed.

Akiya checks cattle at around 4 am every day. Nagesh was not at home on Wednesday night as he had been hired by another farmer nearby. At around 6.30 am neighbours saw Akiya lying on the floor of the cattle shed and called his family.

He was dead but his family could not make out what killed him. They informed Nagesh and he came home. “After sometime while the family was making funeral arrangements Nagesh went inside the shed to investigate what happened to his father. When he touched the iron roof he was electrocuted. Relatives tried to save him using a wooden stick. They took him to hospital but he died on the way,” inspector B. Ramesh said.

Local electricity assistant engineer Ravi Kumar inspected the cattle shed and said the family was drawing electricity illegally. The connecting wire was touching the roof of the shed and that was the reason for the mishap.
