Obscene dance in AKP, charge memos to cops
Visakhapatnam: Superintendent of Police for Anakapalli district K.V. Murali Krishna on Sunday issued charge memos to several police personnel including the inspector of Yellamanchili. The action was in response to their failure to prevent an obscene dance event that took place during the Ganesh immersion procession in Kothapatnam village of Rambilli mandal, under the jurisdiction of Anakapalli district.
A video clip circulated widely, capturing a sarpanch from the ruling party engaged in inappropriate dancing and hugging a transgender individual, who also made explicit gestures. The video went viral on Saturday night.
“We are taking strict measures against the organisers, as well as police personnel, including senior officers, to ensure that such events do not occur in the future," stated the SP.
He further explained that the police had issued warnings to all organisers in the district in advance, urging them to refrain from organising explicit shows during the immersion of Ganesha idols. Some known troublemakers among the organisers were bound over and issued warnings. Additionally, senior police officers counseled new pandal organisers, advising them against engaging in such activities.
The SP mentioned that numerous requests were made by organisers to permit dance performances during the processions, but all were denied.
