Hyderabad: The Jagtial police, who are probing murder of 24-year-old software engineer B. Deepthi at her house, took into custody her sister Chandana and a male friend at Ongole of Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh on Friday and brought them to Korutla for questioning.

A few days ago, when their parents were away in Hyderabad, Deepthi’s body with injuries to the face was found near a sofa at their residence at Bheemuni Dibba of Korutla. It is suspected that the two sisters had consumed liquor. Police said Chandana left with a male friend and they were spotted in CCTV camera footage at the bus stand.

Chandana later released an audio clip in which she stated that she did not kill her sister Deepthi. She said they had consumed liquor at their residence and Deepthi fell unconscious.

Chandana's parents B. Srinivas Reddy and Madhavi are natives of Ongole and they came to Bheemuni Dibba a few years ago. Srinivas Reddy is in a brick kiln business in the locality.
