Local bodies must promote traffic rules: PWD Minister G Sudhakaran

The minister distributed a total of Rs 24.16 lakh to various persons.

Alappuzha: PWD Minister G. Sudhakaran has asked the  local self-government institutions to  create awareness among the public on road safety rules. He was speaking after distributing the  funds allotted to patients for treatment from the chief minister’s relief fund here  on Friday.  The number of deaths due to road accidents was increasing every day due to the bad  condition of roads, speeding  and rash driving, he said. Accidents can be averted by driving vehicles with care and at controlled speed, he said and asked the  people’s representatives to educate drivers about the dangers of  speeding and careless driving. 

The minister distributed  a total of Rs 24.16 lakh to various persons.  Rs 3 lakh each was given to four persons undergoing treatment for  kidney diseases and Rs 12.16 lakh to  97 persons who are suffering from various diseases.  Ambalappuzha block panchayat president Prajith Karickal presided over the function. Ambalappuzha panchayat president  A.M. Afsath was  among those who attended the function.
