Residents find fissure in railway track at Chathinamkulam

The crack was found in between Kollam and Perinadu railway stations near the Chathinamkulam railway gate by 9 a.m.

KOLLAM: A major  train accident was averted with the timely detection of a  fissure by the local residents on the railway track at Chathinamkulam here minutes ahead of the crossing of Sabari Express on Friday morning.   The railway authorities rushed to the place  and repaired the crack temporarily allowing trains to move with reduced speed.  

The crack was found in between  Kollam and Perinadu railway stations near the Chathinamkulam railway gate by  9 a.m.  The local people who were walking along the track  alerted the gatekeeper who informed the   railway staff.  The traffic through the spot was not affected as it was not peak hour.   The railway  cited climate change as   the reason for the defect which was found at the same spot for the fourth time in  three years.
