CBI slaps UAPA on P Jayarajan

The CBI had earlier filed a first chargesheet listing 19 people as accused and 200 as witnesses.

Kochi: The CBI has named CPM Kannur district secretary P. Jayarajan as an accused in a supplementary chargesheet filed by it in the  murder of RSS activist Kathiroor Manoj in  Kannur in 2014.    Mr Jayarajan has been charged under section 18 (punishment for conspiracy) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Mr Jayarajan has been listed as  accused number 25 in the case. The supplementary chargesheet,  filed by investigating officer Hari Omprakash in the CBI court-III in Kochi, named him as the chief conspirator. 

Five others named as accused are Rajesh, Sunil Kumar, Mahesh, Sajilesh and Rakesh, all of whom were allegedly involved in the conspiracy and abetment of the crime. The CBI had earlier filed a first chargesheet  listing 19 people as accused and 200 as witnesses.  Mr Jayarajan was arrested in 2016 and after being in jail for over three weeks,  he secured bail.
