Thiruvananthapuram: The ongoing tussle between Vice-Chancellor P.K. Radhakrishnan and the syndicate members has turned murky  with  the VC  alleging on Friday that CPM syndicate member A.A. Rahim had given a death threat against him.  However, Mr Rahim dismissed the allegation saying that he had not met the VC  recently or contacted him over the phone. The academic council scheduled for April 1 has been postponed after the VC  made it clear  that he would convene the meeting only after the government provided him protection.

Mr Rahim told DC  that he would take legal action against the VC  on the allegations. There were CCTV cameras in the VC’s chamber and also in the corridors. Meanwhile, the VC  submitted a complaint to DGP Loknath Behra seeking police protection. He also petitioned CM  Pinarayi Vijayan and education minister C. Raveendranath seeking the removal of Mr Rahim, who is a nominated syndicate member. The VC  also informed Governor P. Sathasivam, who is the chancellor of the university, about the  threat.
