KOZHIKODE: A convict threw  sandals at POCSO court judge S.H. Panchapakesan  at Kalpetta on Friday after he  sentenced the man to 25 years’ jail for sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl in 2014. The accused,  K. Arumukhan, of Kadassikkunnu near Meppadi, Wayanad,  was taken into custody by the policemen soon  after a sandal hit the judge, though he  tried to avoid it.

The judge was rushed to the government general hospital where he was  administered first aid.  The police also registered the arrest of Arumukhan who was shifted to Kalpetta police station. The attack comes amidst  the allegations being raised by human rights activists working among tribals in Wayanad  that  there was  ‘dual justice' under the POCSO Act.
