Kochi: One female nurse was  terminated from Ernakulam Government Medical College by the Director of Medical Education for producing a fake certificate to obtain the job at the EMC.   The fraud was detected by the authorities on  verification with the Nursing Council of India. There are  allegations that more employees are continuing at EMC after producing fake certificates  when the medical college was under the Co-operative Academy of Professional Education (CAPE). “We will  look into such aspects and take action,” said EMC principal Dr V.K. Sreekala.

She also said that some of the employees were continuing in service after retirement.  “They can continue there till the integration of the medical college with government becomes complete. In the case of doctors, we have to find replacement. They are continuing on the basis of a court stay,” she added. Meanwhile, a fresh batch of medicines arrived at the medical college. “They were purchased under RSBY scheme.  Shortage of medicines occurs during January and February and we don’t overstock also. More medicines will arrive in the coming days also and there is no crisis on this score at the medical college now,” Dr Sreekala added.
