A wedding in Amravati turned violent when the groom was stabbed on stage, with drone footage providing crucial evidence of the attackers’ escape.

A wedding ceremony in Amravati turned into a crime scene on Monday evening when the groom was stabbed on stage, an incident captured and tracked by a drone camera that provided crucial evidence to police.

The attack occurred around 9:30 pm at Sahil Lawn on Badnera Road during the wedding of 22-year-old Sujal Ram Samudra. The accused, identified as Ragho Jitendra Bakshi, allegedly approached the groom on stage and stabbed him three times, injuring his thigh and knee. Panic ensued among guests, but the drone operator continued recording and tracked the attackers’ escape for nearly two kilometers.

The footage shows the attacker, wearing an orange hoodie, running out of the lawn and taking a bike parked outside. Another individual dressed in black joined him, and both fled while a relative of the couple tried to pursue them. The drone captured their movements until they disappeared from view.

Police have seized the video, which clearly shows the faces of the accused and the escape route. Station House Officer Sunil Chauhan said, “The drone operator’s alertness has been extremely helpful to us. The video will significantly aid in identifying and locating the accused.”

Preliminary investigation suggests the assault stemmed from a minor dispute during the DJ performance. The groom and accused were reportedly pushed while dancing, which escalated into an argument, angering Bakshi and leading to the violent attack. The accused allegedly also attempted to attack the groom’s father, Ramji Samudra, before fleeing.

Police are continuing their investigation and searching for the accused. The groom is receiving treatment at a nearby hospital and is reported to be stable.
