Five Alleged Terrorist Associates Arrested in J&K’s Kulgam

SRINAGAR: Security forces in Kashmir Valley’s southern Kulgam district have arrested five alleged “terrorist associates” during a coordinated operation involving the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army’s 9 Rashtriya Rifles, and the CRPF’s 18 Battalion.
The arrests were made on Wednesday at Khrewan Chadder after officials received credible intelligence indicating the suspects’ involvement in unlawful activities. According to a police spokesperson, the joint team recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the possession of the accused during the operation.
The seized material includes two pistols, three magazines, forty rounds of 9mm ammunition, and three grenades. Police have identified the arrested individuals as Tajamul Hussain Mir of Gufbal. Rehmat Ali Naikoo of Khrewan, Tehrim Ahmed Bhat of Khrewan, Manzoor Ahmed Bhat of Khrewan Chadder and Kifiyat Ahmed Dar of Malathama, Kulgam. All five have been booked under relevant sections of law at Police Station Kulgam.
Officials stated that further investigation is underway to determine the nature of their alleged links, the circumstances under which the weapons were acquired, and the intended purpose behind their possession. The inquiry aims to uncover any broader network or operational plans connected to the recovered arms and ammunition, a police spokesperson said.
