Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said that Hindu ethos has played a central role in sustaining India as a continuous civilisation, while also contributing to the country’s global credibility and economic prospects.
“For over a millennia, the Hindu civilization has enriched the world with profound knowledge, creativity and scientific wisdom, all rooted in the Vedic tradition. Hinduism should be seen as a civilisational system rather than merely a set of religious rituals,” said Mr. Fadnavis while speaking at the World Hindu Economic Forum 2025 on the theme ‘Maharashtra – Accelerating Viksit Bharat.’
“As the globe transitions into the fifth Industrial Revolution, India is exceptionally positioned to spearhead this change through the seamless integration of technology across all sectors. Powered by Data and AI, India is rapidly transforming itself into a global innovation hub, spurring progress in agriculture, manufacturing, and services,” the CM added.
The principles of Swadeshi and Atmanirbhar Bharat are being realised through initiatives like ‘Make for India’ and ‘Make for the World.’ These efforts are generating employment, fostering indigenous innovation and solidifying global trust in India's leadership, said Mr. Fadnavis.
The Chief Minister also announced plans to set up a 54-storey African Centre in Navi Mumbai, with each floor housing representative offices of African nations.
Highlighting Africa’s impending demographic boom, Mr. Fadnavis said the continent’s economic importance would grow significantly, and India was well-positioned due to global trust in the country.
“Africa will be the next global growth region and that co-creating economical and technological solutions with African nations can help shape a new global economic order, with India playing a leading role. Africa has strategic and natural resources required for future and frontier technologies. India’s long-standing trust-based relationship with nations in Africa and other parts of the global south places it in a strong position to deepen economic and institutional cooperation,” said Mr. Fadnavis.
