Didi: Won't Take Sanyas From Politics, I'm Not A Monk

KOLKATA: Trinamul Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee, who has almost confined herself to her residence after losing power to BJP in West Bengal, ruled out her Sanyas (retirement) from politics on Monday. Instead, she vowed to continue her fight till she sends BJP to Sanyas.
The former chief minister shared her future plans in yet another Facebook broadcast address which has become her routine affair at intervals over the last three months. “It is not correct for the BJP leaders to think about me taking Sanyas if they do not give me permission to hold meetings. I'm not a monk,” she said.
Ms Banerjee added, “The real monks are bigger practitioners. We are below their level, worshipping gods and goddesses with our faith and respect towards all religions. But remember, our fight will continue till BJP is sent to take Sanyas.” She then attacked the Suvendu Adhikari government for imposing a misrule.
“People have come to know about the real face of BJP in these few months for unleashing torture and atrocities,” the ex-CM claimed while alleging discrimination by the ruling party in the rollout of various social welfare schemes including Annapurna Bhandar in place of Lakshmir Bhandar of the TMC government.
Ms Banerjee argued, “Before the Assembly polls, BJP never specified eligibility criteria to get Annapurna Bhandar benefits. No condition was imposed. Now people are subjected to it. Will the BJP decide who is eligible or not? Why aren't women getting the money under the scheme? They are now chosen based on their caste and religion.”
The TMC chief then accused the BJP government of implicating at least 12,000 people, mostly her workers, in false cases across the state with the help of police. She also branded the superintendents of police and inspectors in charge of police stations as district presidents and mandal presidents of BJP.
Ms Banerjee also slammed the state government for taking no action into the vandalism by BJP workers including ABVP members at Jadavpur University among other academic institutions last week. “I have never seen an aggressive party like yours,” she observed.
Referring to the Census, the TMC chief pointed out, “All information must be provided on the NRC form. Is there any guarantee that these will not later be used elsewhere? The BJP won the election by looting. Many names were removed on the pretext of SIR. If necessary, I will approach the Supreme Court again.”
