New Delhi:  Authorities in New Delhi have removed alleged unauthorised structures outside the Pakistan High Commission (PHC) at Shantipath in the diplomatic enclave, officials said.

The structures and queue liners near the visa section of the Pakistani mission were located outside the compound’s designated perimeter in a lane and were removed by the authorities, they said.

The action came three days after Pakistani authorities dismantled security barricades outside the Indian High Commission (HCI) in Islamabad.

The Pakistan side had removed some parking poles outside the HCI on Monday despite a formal protest by the Indian mission.

The action in New Delhi is being seen as a retaliatory move amid strained diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Officials said the action was limited to unauthorised structures outside the mission.
