Security Tightened Nationwide Ahead of NEET-UG Re-Exam
Security personnel will monitor the entire process, from the arrival of question papers at examination centres to their collection and return after the exam.
New Delhi: Ahead of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled across the country on Sunday, administrative and security preparations have been intensified nationwide to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the high-stakes medical entrance test.
In the national capital, inspection rounds are underway to finalise arrangements at various examination centres. An observer visiting the Government Boys Senior Secondary School (GBSS) in Ashok Vihar expressed satisfaction with the readiness of the facilities.
“Everything has been checked and found fit for the exam. Five schools have been designated as centres here. This is the first centre, and we now have to visit the others,” the observer told ANI.
In Uttar Pradesh, Prayagraj District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma said extensive arrangements have been made for the examination, which will be conducted at 47 centres across the district with around 23,000 students expected to appear.
“Considering the sensitivity of this exam, we have made adequate preparations. Static and sector personnel have been deployed at each centre. Adequate police and paramilitary forces have also been deployed,” Verma said.
He added that security personnel will monitor the entire process, from the arrival of question papers at examination centres to their collection and return after the exam.
Verma also highlighted measures taken to facilitate transportation and address weather-related concerns. He said instructions had been issued to railway and road transport authorities to ensure students do not face difficulties while travelling.
“To prevent any inconvenience, ARTO teams have been deployed, and medical teams and ambulances are on standby considering the heat. We are fully prepared,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Ajmer district administration in Rajasthan has completed all security arrangements for the re-examination. Around 300 police personnel will be deployed across examination centres to ensure smooth and secure conduct of the test.
Ajmer Additional Superintendent of Police Himanshu Jangid said police personnel have been directed to remain vigilant and strictly enforce examination guidelines. Armed guards will escort question papers and answer sheets, while strong rooms at examination centres will remain under police supervision.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has advised candidates to reach their examination centres between 11 am and 1:30 pm. Entry gates will close at 1:30 pm.
The examination will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode from 2 pm to 5:15 pm across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. More than 22.79 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the test on June 21.
