THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Kerala on Tuesday on a two-day visit to the state.

This is the prime minister's second visit to Kerala in a fortnight. Mr Modi will reach Nedumbassery airport in the evening and from there he will go to the southern naval base by helicopter.

The prime minister will take part in a roadshow in the evening that will begin from Maharaja's College ground. He will be covering a 1.3 km stretch from the Maharaja's ground to the government guest house during the one-hour-long road show.

Mr Modi is scheduled to stay at the Ernakulam Guest House overnight. On Wednesday morning the prime minister will leave for Guruvayur to offer prayers at the famous Sree Krishna temple and attend the wedding of Malayalam actor and BJP leader Suresh Gopi's daughter.

After taking part in the wedding ceremony, he will visit Sree Ramaswamy Temple at Thriparyar in Thrissur district and offer prayers.

The prime minister will return to Kochi by 12 noon and take part in a meeting of BJP's 6000 incharges of Shakti Ken dras or booth-level committees and a couple of other programmes before returning to Delhi.

Security has been tightened in Ernakulam and Thrissur districts in view of the prime minister's visit. Traffic restrictions will also be in place because of the VIP movement on January 16 and 17.
