Modi To Embark On Three-Nation Four-day Visit Today

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a three-nation four-day visit on Monday to Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman but the visit to the strategic friend Oman will be the most keenly-watched during the visit for its security and economic dimensions.

India is hopeful of inking a comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) with the Sultanate and receive spare parts for the ageing Jaguar fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force from Oman which has retired its Jaguar fleet.

In the first leg of the visit to Jordan, at the invitation of Jordanian King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a visit to the Hashemite kingdom on December 15 and 16. The Prime Minister will meet His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein to review the gamut of relations between India and Jordan, and exchange perspectives on regional issues. PM Modi is also expected to discuss the situation in Gaza with the Jordanian leadership.

On the second leg of the visit, PM Modi will visit Ethiopia for the first time on December 16 and 17. He will be holding wide-ranging discussions with Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed Ali on all aspects of bilateral ties. Both nations are also partners in the Global South. PM Modi will address a joint session of the Ethiopian Parliament.

On the third and final leg of the visit, at the invitation of Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman, the Prime Minister will visit the Gulf nation on December 17 and 18. This will be the second visit of Prime Minister Modi to Oman. India and Oman share an all-encompassing strategic partnership underpinned by centuries-old bonds of friendship, trade linkages and strong people-to-people ties."

New Delhi had earlier added, "This visit will be an opportunity for both sides to comprehensively review the bilateral partnership, including in the areas of trade, investment, energy, defence, security, technology, agriculture and culture as well as exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest."
