MEA Deposits High Value Gifts in Toshakhana

New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has published a list of high value gifts, many worth several lakhs, deposited in the Government “Toshakhana” between January and April this year. The Toshakhana is a secure repository within the MEA for gifts received by government functionaries from foreign sources, either in India or abroad.
Among the items deposited are:
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi
o Two Rolex watches worth ₹35 lakh and ₹28 lakh
o A first edition Yellowstone National Park book and Maven Elite binoculars (₹80,000).
o A set of perfumes and cloth (₹2 lakh).
o A Lord Ganesha statue in a glass case (₹1 lakh).
• External affairs minister S. Jaishankar
o Two Rolex watches worth ₹25 lakh and ₹5.75 lakh.
o One Chopard wristwatch (₹12.5 lakh).
o A jewellery set of six items (₹7.5 lakh).
o A Piaget wristwatch, four Mubkhar private collection perfumes, and a bead necklace (combined ₹10 lakh).
• Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman
o An IWC Schaffhausen wristwatch (₹5 lakh).
• Defence minister Rajnath Singh
o A UAE 50th Anniversary CARACAL 2011 pistol in a trolley bag (₹5 lakh).
