Chhattisgarh Waqf Board Directs Mosques, Dargahs to Hoist National Flag on August 15
The order applies to all Waqf-registered mosques, madrasas, and dargahs across the state, according to him.
Raipur: All the mosques, dargahs and madrasas in Chhattisgarh have been instructed by the State Waqf Board to hoist the national flag on the Independence Day on August 15.
According to the State Waqf Board chief Salim Raj, the direction was issued after consultations with several muttawalis (manager or custodian of Waqf property) in the state.
“Some of them were hesitant initially to carry out the instruction. They were told they are free to hoist an Islamic flag that they do but they should have no reservation in hoisting the Tricolour. One must love the country one lives in, besides following the religion one follows”, he said.
Under the directive, the ‘imam’ of each mosque will hoist the national flag in the presence of the mosque committee and the photographs/ recordings of the flag-hoisting along with the name and location of the mosque or dargah and the names of the participants have to be sent to the board via its online portal or WhatsApp group.
